Google Earth is a geographic information system (GIS), just like a 3D virtual atlas, it allows the user to visualize the Earth,
but also the Moon, Mars and Heaven on different scales like his "old" NASA World Wind rival.
Earth and the Stars in every way In order to display our blue planet from every angle, the software of
signed cartography Google assembles shots taken at more or less high altitude: from the satellite photo to the aerial shot. He proposes
a timeline that tracks the evolution of a neighborhood, a landscape or a tourist site since the first shots in 2003
until now.
Many cities and regions are even mapped in 3 dimensions.
This is how Google was able to add relief to its representations with 3D building modeling.
In addition, users can add geolocated photos to specific points of the globe via Panoramio; a nice completion of the service with
clichés often of artistic quality in the most striking places.
Google Earth is extremely simple and intuitive. The user can navigate directly to the mouse by sliding in the desired direction, then zooming in on
its points of interest via the wheel. Obviously the software has a search engine to facilitate the approach of the places it wishes
contemplate.
A guided tour presents the most beautiful wonders of the world and allows to go around the world, from the Eiffel Tower to the Grand Canyon through the
St. Peter's Basilica and the wreck of the Titanic.
Google Earth also focuses on cities and offers a real urban guide. The interface displays different types of places like bars,
shopping centers, video clubs, airports, cinemas or restaurants that appear very fast
